"Winter is coming" :D

Ahah, well, maybe not winter, but I'm getting it back next weekend, then 3 weekends for installing and mapping, then trackday!!!

Doesn't matter :)

A few photos taken this weekend during the N24.

We are waiting for an exhaust part and the R3 airbox. There are still the windows to install and the seats brackets to make.

can't wait to see some more vids.. By the way the top mounts we've developed sort out a lot of the issues that the AST ones have so if you're interested give me a shout..

The issues being what mainly?
I've actually been pretty satisfied by the AST top mounts over the 3 years I've run them. I was less convinced by the shocks which leaked at the beginning before getting properly serviced.
I have a second set of AST top mounts at home that i need to send to GAZ anyway as they wanted to have a look at them in order to build me a set of new top mounts with a couple ideas I submitted them.

I can't wait to put it back on the road, but our plannings (the workshop, the Sybele guru who will do the mapping, and myself) are absolutely crazy, and so far I can't see myself getting any track time before September if I'm lucky :(

as always anthony, progress is looking fantastic. these sorts of builds take a good while, but you'll basically have a full blown motorsport build right there which is worth waiting on. really does seem like these guys you've went with are the guys to go to for this kind of thing!

officially my favourite thread on the internet :D

Then go buy it ...

I've seen K Tec's manifold up close, and seen the build quality, it's worth its price let's say.
Plus, you can have a quick discussion with anybody using it and properly pushing their car, they'll all have the same answer, which is pretty much why I won't sell mine for cheap as it cost me a grand when I bought it anyway.

in other words, you get what you pay for anthony! the welds and general quality of the k-tec one is questionable, from the close up pictures i've seen i'd have to agree with you there :) the intoxoline manifold with a ceramic coating would be a steal, 700 euros to get it to the uk and then 150 for a ceramic coating is an absolute steal and judging by the condition of it, you should all be laughing at the price! for anyone wanting to invest in forged pistons, throttle bodies and a manifold ... you'd be in a better position to buy anthonys engine block and build the 'engine' externally so you can still drive your car, and then swap the engines over at some point in the future :D

Airbox on its way to the workshop, as well as the exhaust part which was still missing.

Remains to be done :
seats brackets welded to the frame
Makrolon windows painted and fitted
complete deletion of rear wiper, side windows mechanisms
tow hook removal (yes I still had it...)
proper track focused geometry of the car

Then back to France for the electronics to be installed and setup, and track time around late August / early September.

Awesome........ Is it august yet?! Dear Santa, for Christmas I would like..........

Just been rewatching some of your footage Yotah, I'm expecting big things once this is finished and geo is done. I can't quite decide whether you're a genius or a nut job behond the wheel! Whatever it is though, one helluva driver!

A lot of people seem to be divided on that like you :)

I can't wait to test it, been a while since I've tracked it and I miss it so much!

Nah I've decided - every good racing driver I can think of is ruthless behind the wheel so genius it is! I watched the laps you did in the Clio Cup and I'd be keen to see how much quicker the Twingo is.

I know you've done the conversion now Yotah but did you make any progress on the replacement K4M airbox?

As the engine isn't anymore in the car, I can't build it from scratch on the car, so I was waiting for a guy from Renault to get me the original CAD files of the engine bay and the engine assembly, but he's not responding anymore...

Work is going forward lately :

new washer bottle fitted and plugged in, I'll be able to clean my windscreen again for the first time in 3 years!

The R3 Maxi airbox finally arrived after 7 weeks of "yeah we sent it, should be there in a couple of days..." and it doesn't fit! Yeah, water cooler and brake fluid "bottle" stand in the way. So in the meantime, we've put my K&N back in place so we can do the initial mapping with that and the I'll build a custom airbox which fits in my engine bay and makes me a happy man!

Complete setup of the suspensions with the maximum camber currently available with the GAZ Shocks and the AST adjustable top mounts. I'll test it like this on the track and then if necessary I'll have the shocks lower mounting points modified over the winter to allow for -2° or more camber on the front.
