i would say that you are saving around 15-20 kg by removing those bits.

I dont know how handy you are but you could grab some 12mm mdf from wickes/b&q and cut a 'floor plan' shape, then put the carpet back over it?
 
I have just removed the spare wheel and jack from my car, first of all does anybody know how much weight that would be saving approximately and second of all now when I place stuff in the boot, the carpet isn't strong enough to hold anything and it just dips, anybody got any ideas of what I could place there to stop this happening, other than the spare wheel of course
