General precautions
Disconnect battery earth lead.
Turn engine via crankshaft pulley (unless otherwise stated).
Turn engine in normal direction of rotation (unless otherwise stated).
Observe all tightening torques (where quoted).
Special tools
None required.

Preparatory operations
Access auxiliary drive belt from engine bay, RH wheel arch and underneath the vehicle.
Components to be removed include:
Engine undershield.
RH front wheel.
RH wheel arch splash guard.
Front bumper.
Bonnet slam panel.
Headlamps.
Auxiliary drive belt
Removal
WARNING: Auxiliary drive belt, tensioner and guide pulley(s) must ALL be replaced if ANY of them are removed. DO NOT start engine without auxiliary drive belt fitted as damage may occur to crankshaft pulley.
Turn tensioner clockwise to release tension on belt fig1.1.
Remove and discard auxiliary drive belt.
Remove and discard tensioner.
Installation
Fit new tensioner.
Turn tensioner fully clockwise fig1.1.
Fit new auxiliary drive belt.
Allow tensioner to operate fig1.2.
Install components in reverse order of removal.
Auxiliary drive belt tensioner
Removal
WARNING: Auxiliary drive belt, tensioner and guide pulley(s) must ALL be replaced if ANY of them are removed. DO NOT start engine without auxiliary drive belt fitted as damage may occur to crankshaft pulley.
Remove and discard auxiliary drive belt.
Remove tensioner bolt fig1.3.
Remove and discard tensioner.
Installation
Fit new tensioner.
Fit tensioner bolt fig1.3. Tightening torque: 40 Nm.
Fit new auxiliary drive belt.
Install components in reverse order of removal.
