Just get a quote from RS tuning and book in there and stop fannying around.

They SPECIALISE in renault sports and as Neil said above will already have the correct tools and have probably done a twingo belts change a few times before, their customer service is excellent and if something is accidentally done wrong they would definitely do all they can to fix it(it'll be rare if they did do something wrong from other people experiences they've been bang on)

Rang RS tuning, said they've never done one before and gave me a number for RS Murray as they're apparently close by to them, rang them up, getting a call back in half an hour, wonder what they're going to say ;)

Cambelt kit, water pump and fitting, £384.36 from RSMurray
Apparently they're a Renault specialist, anyone heard of them?

EDIT:
Had a look on cliosport and apparently it's Paul's dad that owns it, if ktec say a stupid amount for adding the water pump I think it might be going there :D

i'm just in the process of creating a thread for the GT (133 to follow next week) using a print off of official Renault Technical Data for the timing belts which provides you all with :

job time (this will let you all know the exact time it takes, allowing you to calculate labour costs .... bargain or ripped off?)
special tooling required + part numbers
removal / timing / refit detailed how to (official from renaults technical data NOT workshop manual)
renault belt service schedules for GT (133 next week)

this will be up tonight i promised, along with a few others (as you all know, i can only print of a bunch of random non work related stuff at a time so i'll go between the GT / 133 in turns!)

Got mine done today at Renault garage, cambelt, aux belt, waterpump, coolant, £599. Expensive but its a load off my mind, can drive it 'properly' now without worrying about things snapping!

Which dealer did you use? I've been using Renault Bolton for the last 4 yrs now but £699 is a bit expensive. Mine is due this September so need to start saving as I think it's gonna need 4 new tyres too. Ouch!

I used the Renault dealer on Blackburn Motor Park, £100 cheaper than the one in Bolton for the same job!

Just phoned up Renault PL today - a whopping 744quid at current exchange rates  I'd have expected the difference in labour costs between UK and Poland to at least chip smth off the previous high quote of 699 for UK. WTF? They did mention that the variable timing pulley (or tensioner.. slipped out my head now) needs changing too. Can anyone confirm?

Yeah, sure did - called up a recommended independent garage and they quoted be nearly 60% less, using original Renault parts (just they source them themselves from France, rather than Renault PL).

there we go! it really is amazing the sorts of deals you can get if you shop around. now hopefully if they do a good job on your cambelt which i'm confident they will, you've just found yourself a garage you can rely on to take your cars to :D

Already have been taking it there for the last few things, on both the Renaults (Twingo & Clio). Just thought with smth as serious as a cam belt service I'd take it to Renault. Tried two of the three official Renault garages previously and not impressed is to say the least, so thought I'd try the last one (who gave the me the crazy quote). At such a price difference, I'm prepared to take the risk ;)

haha, seems to be a very hostile view to independant / local garages on here that i've picked up on :p if you want to look at things in a different manner your RS engine and your clio 172/182/197/200 F4R megane engines etc aren't at all in anyway different from the variable valve timing set up, in theory on a bog standard rover 200/25 1.4 so these renault engines are a piss take to work on. it's really bread and butter mechanics when it comes down to basic work like timing belts. it's hard to go wrong when you've got the tools, and the actual diagram infront of you.

gad to see you're happy with your work that was carried out :D if only we could encourage more folks to stay out of the dealerships and ''specialists'' :p

That's where some have been caught out, not having the locking tools. With them, it shouldn't be a huge drama.

Just had my cam/aux belts , coolant + water pump , front brembo discs and pads , standard service & full diagnostics check @ Diamond Motors Long Eaton Nottingham .... wouldn't take it anywhere else !!!
