I'm sorry to anounce the day to sell my cherished Twingo RS 133 Cup has finally arrived, (Due to the lack of space on my drive now my son has finished Uni)
It's black and silver with 17" alloys, it has the all important Cup chassis and stiffened springs for superb handling. It is in fantastic...
Clarkson Hammond & May, the former Top Gear hosts have created a new web site called 'Drive Tribe' (It's a bit like Facebook for petrol heads)
Here is the URL to the Twingo section of the tribe. It still needs another 8 members to join before it can go public (Searchable on Google & Yahoo etc)...
It's a great place to post photos of your Twingo If you have not been able to do so on 133.net due to the limited remaining space. Note to the 133.net moderator - (Please don't delete this post, the Drivetribe Twingo page is not there to compete with your site, it is just an additional resourse...

Many thanks for the advice guys. I'm away on holiday for half term, but I'll check it out when I get back and let you know if it solves the problem. Thanks again.
Has anyone had any problems with their accelerator pedal sticking on full throttle?
Whenever I give my RS 'The beans' in 1st, 2nd, or sometimes 3rd gear, the engine stays at full trottle for a few seconds when I take my foot off the gas and dip the clutch pedal to change up a gear. As I'm sure...
My standard factory fitted, Renault exhaust had been blowing for a few weeks. When I had my RS Twingo serviced recently the mechanic managed to sort the problem out by removing the mid section, nipping up a badly split seam in a vice and re-welding the full length of pipe.
The repair has been...
Many thanks for your coment. Decent RS air fillters are quite expensive, I just thought drawing the extra air from inside the engine bay it might dirty the filter quicker than normal.
I know it's possible make the Twingo engine sound much 'throatier' by removing the small rubber flap on the left hand side of the lower part of the air filter box. I removed the flap on my RS 133 Cup the other day and was quite impressed with the new 'Boy Racer' sound.
However, I was wondering...
My 6 year old 133 cup has only done 20,000 miles but I was strongly advised to change the cam belt as it could cost anything up to £2,500 to put right if the belt snapped or slipped.
I was quoted £520 for a full six year cam belt service, to include replacement water pump, pulley's and a new...
That's great! If the weather is fine next weekend I think I'll have a little delve around in the wheel arch and get a couple of photos of the connectors before buy an upgrade. Hopefully, that way, I should be able to get a compatable unit first time.
Many thanks for your help mate.
I'm thinking of ugrading the horn on my RS 133 Cup as the factory fitted unit is pretty pathetic. I'd like to fit a couple of snail shell type air horns but I don't know what type to buy, or even the best way to access it.
Any advice form someone who has already upgraded their horn would be...
I've been quoted £540 for a full service to include replacement of the camshaft dephaser gear, cam belt, new pully's, and a new water pump, which sounds quite steep, but my friendly local Renault dealership wanted to charge me almost a grand for the same work. Can you guess which one I'm going with?
UPDATE- I spoke to an engine specialist mechanic today and he told me that the Renault VVT system is a cheap version of the bomb proof Honda VTec system, much less complex, but unfortunately, much less reliable too.
He went on to say that the variable valve timing is actuated by high pressure...
I think you may be right. I've typed in camshaft dephaser on youtube and most of the videos that popped up are relating to Renault twin cam engines the same or very similar to RS Twingo, so I'm guessing it must be a pretty common fault. Do any of you know how much it is likely to cost to have...
My 2010 car has only done 19,000 miles from new and makes a sort of grinding noise on start up if its not been run for a few days.
I just put it down to the oil gradually sinking down to the sump and the top end of the engine dry running for a second or two until the pressure builds up and...
I think the RS Twingo 133 may be a future classic similar to the Peugeot 205 GTi, 106 Rallye, Ford XR3i, Mk1 Golf GTi, etc. The only drawback is, we may have to wait for 15 or 20 years for the prices to rise. :(

I ended up taking a chance and bought a used manual (cable operated) door mirror on eBay for £31.00 that had been removed from a 1.2L Twingo.
The way I saw it was; Renault were very unlikely to go to the expence of manufacturing 2 different mirror housings for the motorised and cable operated...
