Hi, might be a stupid question but how do you remove the whole gear knob and gaiter assembly, I was thinking you might just be able to pull it but I don't want to break anything, Cheers
 
The plastic surround at the bottom clips in. The knob itself pulls up, with a lot of force. Careful not to hit yourself in the face! It's all one unit

Thanks, is it easy to unclip the whole assembly or are the clips easily broken
 
Haven't broken any on mine and had it out a few times now. Just pry it up slowly if you're not too sure mate. Unclip the surround before pulling the knob off to avoid snapping any clips
